Banjara cushion with tassels

This cushion is made from a vintage quilted Banjara bag. I've opened the bag out to get the nice big size. The textile is made of layers of cotton quilted together in beautiful even herringbone quilting stitches. Its a fabulous example of really good needlework, for which the Banjara are renowned. The surface textile is an indigo and madder red cotton, so I've backed the cushions with vintage indigo hemp and added blue tassels in re-cycled jeans yarn. There is a zip fastener and feather pad.
