Banjara kalchi cushion

This wonderful and large cushion is made from a vintage Banjara kalchi (envelope bag). The Banjara are an iconic semi nomadic ethnic group found all over India,  known for their embroidery skills. The kalchi is in exquisite condition and textiles of this age and quality are now very difficult to find. It s decorated with cowrie shells which is a sign of wealth, has a vintage hemp back, zip fastener and feather pad.
