Banjara kalchi cushion

This beautiful cushion is made from a Banjara kalchi or envelope bag that has been opened out. The textile is vintage and is in perfect condition. The madder red cotton has faded to a brick colour and the embroidery itself is perfect and brilliantly executed, by a very skilled needlewoman. It has its original cowrie shells decorating the edge of the textile and I love the touch of green in the centre of the cushion. I've backed the cushion with a brick (dark coral?) dyed vintage linen and added a zip fastener and feather pad.
This cushions works beautifully with BANJ57. Ive backed them with the same linen and shown them together in the photos.
