Benin indigo cushion

These beautiful indigo striped cushions are from a strip-woven cloth that dates to the middle of the C20 from the Benin Republic. The cloth is hand woven from hand spun cotton and has a wonderful slubby, knubby texture. There are several shades of indigo in the cloth and they are still vibrant. I've backed the cushions with a contemporary thick cotton that has been dyed a similar shade of indigo. There are piped edges, zip fasteners and feather pads.
