Lampung Tapis cushions

These 2 cushions are made from a vintage ceremonial skirt or Tapis, from Lampung in South Sumatra. The skirt dates to the first half of C20 and was a tube skirt of handloomed silk in blue, green and ginger colours. The base of the skirt was heavily embroidered in gold thread. I've used the gold embroidered section for the cushions, and backed them with a ginger coloured vintage hemp. I've added dark blue tassels and the result is a very decorative and unique pair of cushions. I recommend using these cushion on secondary area seating due to the age of the textile.
