This large and exquisite cushion was a panel made for a dowry bag by the Rabari ethnic group in NW India. The pattern is picked out in satin stitch on two different colours of cotton ground. The embroidery is tiny and beautifully done with areas of tiny mirrorwork. The textile dates to the middle of C20 and this quality of work is now extremely rare. Its unlikely that I'll ever own a piece as exquisite as this again, so it is with reluctance that I'm listing it for sale. But I can't keep everything!
There are 2 cushions available, the other is listed separately.
The cushion is backed with grey dyed antique hemp, has zip fastener and feather pad.
