This chackla or wrapper was made by an expert needlewoman from the Rabari ethnic group in India. The needlework is exquisite and is impossible to find of this quality now. I have been lucky enough to secure a few pieces. All of the stitching is hand done, although later ric rac is used on some pieces where appropriate to save a huge amount of time. Not on this piece though! The quality is superb. The chackla is also adorned with multiple buttons, mirrors and little beaded tassels. I have mounted it on an antique linen, indigo dyed to enhance the colours of the chackla.
