Lao silk brocade cushions with tassels

These cushions are made from a very beautiful handwoven Lao brocade. The brocade is woven in cotton and silk and the textile was destined to be made into a tube skirt or sindh that the Lao women wear. The fact that it has a lot of brocade pattern on the textile mean it was destined for a high status lady. The pattern is very complex and the weaver would have been very skilled, still it would have taken a whole day to weave just a few inches. The colours are natural dyes and include a green ground colour with supplementary wefts colours of dark blue, yellow, pink and red floss silk.  Ive backed the cushions with indigo hand dyed handwoven cotton, added bamboo yarn tassels and there are zip fasteners and deluxe feather pads.
