These ikat cushions are made from a handloomed ikat shawl in thick cotton, from Rote island Indonesia. The ikat has been coloured with natural dye which is a relative of the turmeric family. So the product is sustainable and environmentally friendly. I like to buy contemporary handwoven textiles occasionally as it helps to keep the weaving communities in these remote parts of the world viable and ensures the skills are passed on to the next generation.
