This wonderful large ottoman footstool dates to the 1920s. It has a beech frame and the legs were originally painted but have now been dry scraped. The top has been completely re-upholstered using traditional methods and covered in an antique kelim. The vegetable dye colours in the kelim have become beautifully faded over time. The coarse stone wool being accented with traces of blue, terracotta and brown and a faint yellowy green.
It's difficult to get such a large original piece, so many ottomans are made up from new these days.
Its a delightful piece which would grace any well worn/country house style interior.
