A truly delightful and rare example of a mid century blanket from Mali in rough hand loomed wool. The blanket is woven on a narrow loom in a coarse wool, coloured with natural dyes including indigo which is rare for a Mali textile. The blanket is thick and strong and the strips are sewn together with a cross stitch. The colours of the wool are wonderfully varied from various dye lots produced by the artisan weaver. Comprising tones of dark brown, rust, off white, mustard and indigo. It would be great as a wall hanging, bedspread, or used as upholstery fabric. One of the ends is fringed and the other plain.
