This small but perfectly formed cushion is from the front of a Banjara bag. It is made from multiple layers of recycled textiles, decorated with dense stitching, pom poms and cowrie shells. The Banjara are a semi nomadic group in India recognised for their needle work skills. This textile dates to the 1950s and it is very difficult to find such fine examples now.
The cushion is backed with vintage hemp, has zip closure and feather pad.
