Dimensions:
This textile is part of a water carrying head dress worn by the semi nomadic Banjara tribe in India. Known as a "pulia" it hangs down the back of the neck and is designed to show off the wearer's needlework skills. The pulia are made up of re-cycled textiles that are heavily embroidered in tiny chain stitch and decorated with mirror and cowrie shells. This pulia has been sewn onto vintage hemp and then mounted on a stretched canvas.
