Sami quilt cushions

These 2 cushions are made from a vintage Sami quilt from northern Indian and Pakistan. The quilt should not be confused with the ubiquitous kantha quilts from recycled Saris. This quilt is made from layers of cotton that are very densely and skilfully quilted together in bands of coloured stitching. The needlework is eye wateringly tiny and brilliant. The colour of the textile is a pale blue ground with blue, turquoise and white flowers. I've backed the cushions with a vintage Chinese minority handloomed cotton check which works beautifully. There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
