Yao cushions with frill trim

These beautiful cushions are made from a Yao Quing dynasty wedding blanket in cotton and silk. The wedding blanket is handloomed and coloured with natural dyes. The colours of the silk brocade are a variety pinks, apricots and teal and the effect is really pretty. I've given the cushions a frill trim out of handwoven handloomed vintage Sonjiang cotton from Shanghai and used this for the backs as well. The little white blobs you can seen on the Songjiang textile are little slubs in the cotton yarn  from the handspinning. There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
